2014 Summer Reading Club

is for infants up to children who just completed Grade 6.  Registration begins on June 2 at 8:30 a.m. at the Jerseyville Library, located at 105 N. Liberty St. in Jerseyville.  Reading club programs/activities begin on Monday, June 16 at 7 p.m. and end on Friday, August 1 at 6:30 p.m.

Contests and Challenges for All Ages

Find Pete the Cat

Pete will be hiding in a new spot each week starting June 16.  Find him, tell a librarian, and win a sticker or tattoo.

Fetch A Good Book 

4 paper dogs will race to their dog dish.  Each dog represents an age bracket.  As you read, count your pages.  For every 50 pages you read, receive a piece of the dog's sweater to hang on the wall.  Which age group will finish first and be doggone good readers??

Where's Rocket?

Each week a new photo of Rocket the dog will be displayed.  Guess where Rocket is in Jerseyville based on the clues in the photo.  Whoever correctly guesses the most places wins!

Reading Challenge for Infants and Toddlers (up to 35 months old)

Complete the reading challenge and earn small weekly prizes as well as 14 tickets for a chance to win bigger prizes--like books and toys!

  • Each week you'll receive a BINGO card.  (The first card is in your registration bag.)
  • Once you complete a BINGO, turn it in to receive a small weekly prize.
  • You will also receive 2 tickets for each BINGO -- up to 14 -- to use as chances to win bigger prizes.
  • Fill in the information on your tickets.
  • Drop your tickets into the bags next to the prizes you would like to try to win.  Prizes will be set up in the meeting room starting July 30th at 5 p.m.  TICKETS MUST BE TURNED IN BY 10 AM ON AUGUST 1ST!!
  • A list of prizes will be available by July 16th for those unable to redeem their tickets in person.
  • Challenge #1:

    Each circle in your reading log represents 15 minutes of reading.  Fill in 7 circles each week and win a small prize.

    Challenge #2:

    Complete the reading challenge and earn 12 tickets for a chance to win bigger prizes -- like books or toys!

    • Every 15 minutes you read, mark off a circle.
    • When you fill in all your circles, turn in your reading log and receive your 12 tickets.
    • Fill in the information on your tickets.
    • Drop your tickets into the bags next to the prizes you would like to try to win.  Prizes will be set up in the meeting room starting July 30th at 5 p.m.  TICKETS MUST BE TURNED IN BY 10 AM ON AUGUST 1ST!!
    • You may try to earn more tickets -- up to 24 -- by reading more.  Each hour will earn you 1 more ticket.

    Wednesday Arts & Crafts

    Toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners -- 10 a.m.

    Grades 1 - 3 --1 p.m.

    Grades 4 - 6 -- 2:30 p.m.

    **June 18 is picture day, but all other Wednesday Arts & Crafts Days will be messy!  Please make sure your child is wearing clothing that you don't mind getting stained.**

    Saturday, June 21st from 1-2 p.m. ** Please note that this is to be held on SATURDAY.**  Bark for books program!  Make reading even more fun by reading to therapy dogs.  All dogs certified by Therapy Dogs International.

    Friday, June 27 from 1-3 p.m.  Find the Missing Pet Mystery! Put together a detective kit and go on a hunt to find the thief!

    Friday, July 11 from 1-3 p.m.  Movie Day!  Watch The Nut Job.  Snacks provided.

    Friday, July 18 from 1-3 p.m.  Pet parade with stuffed animals!  Bring in your favorite stuffed animal dressed in a costume or ready to perform an amazing trick!

    Friday, July 25 from 1-2 p.m.  Learn how to identify animal tracks in the woods with Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge.

    PRIZE PARTY!!  TEKNOBUBBLES BUBBLE BUS

    Join us on Friday, August 1, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Library to enjoy the amazing Bubble Bus and Balloons by Mike.  Also enjoy hot dogs and chips and see if you won a prize!

     

     

     

     

    "Lovey" (Stuffed Animal/Doll) Sleepover

    Does your best friend need a night away?  How about a night of fun?  Bring your "Lovey" to the Jerseyville Public Library before 5 p.m. on Friday, June 20 for an Overnight of Lovey fun!  Loveys may be picked up Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Each Lovey will receive a memento of their fun night at the Library to share with you!
