Read for the Win

2016 Summer Reading Club Everyone from Infants through Grade 6 is invited to participate in Summer Reading Club. It runs from Monday, June 20 through Friday, July 29 with activities on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Monday evening Entertainers:

All shows begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Jerseyville Public Library

June 20:  Magician Chris Carpunky.  Back by popular demand!!

June 27:  Sheltered Reality.  A choreographed drumline.

July 4:  We are CLOSED!!  Enjoy the fireworks.

July 11:  Mad Science.  Fun and amazing science experiments.

July 18:  The Dulcimer Guy, Mike Anderson.  He plays instruments, sings, and tells stories.

July 25:  Yo-Yo Matt.  Learn the history and science behind some of the best tricks around!

Wednesday Arts & Crafts

June 22 is picture day for the autograph book; all other crafts days will be messy!  Please wear clothing you don't mind getting stained.

Preschool - K @ 10:00 a.m.
                                        Grades 1 - 3 @ 1:00 p.m.
                                          Grades 4 - 6 @ 2:30 p.m.

Friday Events

For Infants, Toddlers (up to 35 months), and Preschoolers (ages 3-5)
All of these begin at 10:00 a.m. and last for 1 hour.
  Registration required.

see if you can win the gold!

Volleyball Game --  Kids will
meet at City Park and get
picked up from there as
well.  We'll play a fun
library version of this
classic game.  Water &
a snack will be provided.

Contests and Challenges:

Coloring Contest for Infants and Toddlers (up to 35 months)

From June 20 - July 9:  Pick up a coloring sheet at the circulation desk.  Color it and turn it in.  Make sure to include your name, age, and phone number on the back.  Enter as many times as you like.  Entries must be turned in by July 9.  There will be 5 winners!

 Drawing Contest for Preschool (ages 3-5)

From June 20 - July 9:  Draw a picture of yourself or your pet playing an Olympic sport.  Turn it in at the circulation desk with your name, age, and phone number.  Enter as many times as you like.  Turn in entries by July 9.  There will be 5 winners!

Name the Book Character for All Age Groups

From July 11 - July28:  A poster board of 25 characters will be hanging in the library.  Pick up your answer sheet at the circulation desk and answer as many as you can.  Turn in entries by July 28.  The first 5 entries drawn with the most correct answers will win a prize!

From June 20 - July 9:  A poster board of 25 symbols representing a summer Olympic sport will be hanging in the library.  Pick up your answer sheet at the circulation desk and answer as many as you can.  Turn in entries by July 9.  The first 5 entries drawn with the most correct answers will win a prize!

Reading Challenge for Infants and Toddlers (up to 35 months)

  1. Each week you can pick up a reading and activity log.  (The 1st is in your registration bag.)
  2. Complete at least 10 of the activities on the log each week to receive a small prize.
  3. You'll receive 4 tickets for each log (up to 24) to use as chances to win bigger prizes.  Please do not pickup tickets until July 21 or after.  Thanks!
  4. Fill in the information on your tickets.
  5. Drop your tickets into the bags next to the prizes you would like to try to win.  Prizes will be set up in the meeting room starting July 27 @ 6:00 p.m.  Tickets must be turned in by 10:00 a.m. on July 29.
  6. A list of prizes will be available by July 15 for those unable to redeem their tickets in person.

Reading Challenges for Preschool (ages 3-5) through Grade 6

  • Each circle in your reading log represents 15 minutes of reading.  Fill in 5 circles each week and win a small prize!
  • For every 15 minutes that you read, mark off a circle.
  • When you fill in all of your circles, turn in your reading log and receive your 12 tickets.  Please wait until July 21 or after to pickup your tickets.  Thanks!
  • Fill in the information on your tickets.
  • Drop your tickets into the bag next to the prizes you would like to try to win.  Prizes will be set up in the meeting room starting July 27 @ 6:00 p.m.  Tickets must be turned in by 10:00 a.m. on July 29.
  • You may try to earn more tickets (up to 24) by reading more.  Each hour will earn you 1 more ticket.
  • A list of prizes will be available by July 15 for those unable to redeem their tickets in person.

Prize Party!!

Friday, July 29 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Jerseyville Pool.

Come and swim; enjoy a hot dog, chips, and cookie.  See if you won a prize.  Registration requested for this event by July 27!!
