The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress invites people of all ages to discover the fascinating people, places and events that await you whenever you read.

The Illinois Center for the Book an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, sponsored by the Illinois State Library, Jesse White, Secretary of State and State Librarian. The mission of the Illinois Center for the Book is to nurture and connect readers and writers, and honor our rich literary heritage.

If you're interested in reading books that are "clean" or would like to recommend something to a younger child that reads well above his/her grade level, try Common Sense Media or Rated Reads.  Common Sense Media covers movies, apps, and video games, too.

The 'Juvenile Series and Sequels' database currently contains over 23,000 books in series titles that are classified into three audiences:

  • Young Adult – for high school-aged readers
  • Juvenile – appropriate for grade school through junior high-aged readers
